How Are The Mighty Fallen Part 2

President Buhari’s government ushered the bastardization of several prime organizations, yesterday we examined the EFCC, today we are looking at other organizations.

The Nigerian Army: Another important institution which I greatly admire that has collapse under President Buhari’s watch is the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army is a shadow of its former glory, religion, politics and tribalism has fractured the Nigerian Army. Observe; terrorists in Afghanistan are able to infiltrate the Afghan army and launch surprise attacks against the state; however in Nigeria, army trainers equally doubled as Boko Haram trainers; this was revealed when a popular army trainer was killed in a surprise attack on a Boko Haram camp. Interestingly, the trainer took a leave of absence not to relax, rather to train Boko Haram in tactical warfare. Boko Haram will never be defeated if this continues. I was equally taken aback when Lt Gen Tukur Buratai directed troops to obey Buhari’s unconstitutional order to kill ballot snatchers on sight. It reveals Mr Buratai is unaware that his statement can land him in prison for life if any Nigerian is actually killed on election day. His professionalism as a soldier who swore to uphold the constitution is questionable.

Governance: El-Rufai who constantly claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan is clueless recently demonstrated that he (El-Rufai) is the clueless one. Observe, he threatened that foreign election observers and monitors who interfere in the 2019 general elections would return to their countries in body bags because nobody will come to Nigeria and tell us how to run our country - this implies he has put in place mercenaries who will kill any foreign election observer who reports the truth, why should he make such a threat? Because he is clueless; he has positioned himself to spend the rest of his life in prison if any election observer lost his or her life. Meanwhile, two days ago, disturbing images emerged of some youths squatting and eating spilled food from a dirty road in Gombe state - a powerful but silent statement that reveals Buhari is neither for the poor nor for the rich, he appears to like being Mr President because of the title. Period.

Our earnest prayer is that GOD will turn these systemic failures around, with minimal or zero disruption to the lives of innocent Nigerians - Amen.

Shalom!
